Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Yerlan Idrissov has announced that Kazakhstan would not obtain visa free regime from the USA and the European Union in the nearest future, Tengrinews reports.
During a briefing at the Central Communications Service, Idrissov discussed the work of the Ministry to simplify visa application processes for Kazakhstani citizens.
“We do not expect to get a mutual visa free regime with Americans and Europeans. We are working to simplify the visa application procedures for our citizens traveling abroad. We have signed a very important agreement with the United States on a five-year multiple entry visa. It significantly simplifies travelling to the USA for our citizens. Currently we are working with Canada. It is very inconvenient for Kazakhstanis to travel to Moscow for a Canadian visa. Canada has received the request from us. And we hope that our Canadian counterparts will come up with a creative solution concerning long term multiple entry visas for our citizens,” Idrissov said.
On June 8-9 2014, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Ashikbayev visited Ottawa, Canada. During the meeting with Minister of Citizenship and Immigration of Canada Chris Alexander, Vice-Minister Ashikbayev focused on visa issues and on simplification of the visa regime.
Indrissov added that the Kazakh Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been working with the EU to simplify travels of Kazakhstanis to Europe.
